  • Weekly Update

I guess that's about as often as I've been blogging lately.  Nothing exciting has been happening, but everything exciting has been happening.  You know, the exciting things that make up every day... cuddling with my girls, taking walks to the park, bike rides to the library, kicking the soccer ball in the backyard, visiting friends, going to church, making forts in the living room, singing songs and just having fun.

I am having fun being my girls' mom.  What a great gift God has given me... and great responsibility, too.  Ainsley has been asking some pretty deep (in 4-year-old terms) theological questions.  It's nice to see that she's thinking about spiritual things, but it also makes me so nervous to answer them.  How do I explain things on a 4-year-old level?  What if I blow it and totally ruin her spiritual life?   How silly I am!  I think I give myself too much credit.  God is working on her heart, I just need to pray for wisdom and for the Holy Spirit to give me the words to say.  God will take care of the rest.

Josh and I had a nice time on our anniversary date last week.  We didn't do much, but it was relaxing and nice to have a night without the kids.  Golfing last Saturday went really well.  Us ladies did much better than I had expected.  I even won the longest drive competition for the ladies.  However, I injured my thumb.  I am finally going to go to the doctor about it tomorrow.  My thumb bent back on my backswing and I heard a crack.  Since then, it has been swollen and it HURTS.  I can't use it very well.  It's my left thumb, so at least it's not my right, but it's still hard to do quite a few things without its use.   I had to play the piano on Sunday and yesterday at church... and let me tell you, I was suffering for Jesus. LOL!  It wasn't that bad, but it didn't feel too great.  So pray it heals... quickly.

Other than that, we are enjoying some cooler late summer weather.  And I am fighting a cold coming on.  These late night watching the Olympics are killing me, but I can't help it.  I have to watch!

  • sounds like you are busy. That is cool you are enjoying your time with the girls, I seem to be yelling a lot at mine! I love the Olympics too. Can't help it. I hope your thumb gets better.

  • Good to know that all is well!  I loke your pretty new layout!

  • Exciting things going on!  Most exciting of all are little Ainsley's questions.  It's so thrilling to notice the Holy Spirit working in our precious children.  You are silly to think you could ruin her spiritual life. . she's first and foremost God's child. . .just answer the questions the best you can and leave the results up to Him.  I know you know that already, I'm just trying to encourage you.  We mama's try to control too much at times.  Be free and joyful in Christ and leave your baby in His hands, keep teaching her His truths faithfully and and sincerely and you will reap what you sow!  (HUGS)

Hey---could you message me w/the time of the picnic tonight?  Thanks.  See you later!

  • I love the look of your page.  I am so happy that God is working in Ainsley's heart and that she feel confident in going to you for questions.  What an honor and privelege.  I hope she always stays that way and I pray that God continues to give you just the right words!  Love, Lish

  • Glad you've been having a good time with the girls this summer, and that you had a nice anniversary date.  Alex has been asking a lot about spiritual matters, I think this age is so awesome, they're so open about the Lord, and have so many questions.  God will lead you and will make her heart tender to His word.  Sorry I missed you last night, I was out with my FIL picking out tile for my new bathroom :)   I have Mary's kids this morning but I will try to call you back this afternoon (though I know you'll be going over there this evening.)

  • It's always good to hear from you, no matter how often!  I, too, seem to be a once-a-weeker (at best), despite my desire to post more.  :)

I relate with those "exciting" things.  I love it all!  And those spiritual questions.  Oh my word, it's so challenging and I feel the same way.

ryc:  Thanks--I'd be happy to share any info I find out, though you might have to remind me!  LOL
