  • I'm BAAAACK!

I have finally returned from my xanga vacation.   I just have been so busy, I haven't had time to get on and post or visit any of my friends' sites.  I hope all of you will understand.  My parents, brother, sister-in-law and their two boys were all here from last Monday until last Saturday.  We had such a wonderful and very busy time.  I'll just post a bunch of pictures to fill you all in...

We went to Six Flags on Tuesday.  Everyone had a great time and came home very tired.

    She really loves her mommy.

Cousins... Lorelei and Ben.  For those of you who don't know, Ben is just two days older than Lorelei.  But he looks like he's about two or three MONTHS older.  Ben is huge, several pounds and several inches bigger than my L., and L. isn't exactly a little thing.  He is full of laughter... this little guy laughs all the time... and eats all the time, too.  The two little ones had a great time checking each other out.

We went to a small zoo on Wednesday and this Camel had a thing for Luke.

The sprinkler park was a huge hit with Ainsley, Luke wasn't so sure.

Grandma and Lorelei.  L. hates the hat.  She spent the entire time fighting to get it off.

Our attempts to get pictures of everyone together.  Don't Luke and Lorelei look like they'd rather be doing just about anything else in the last picture?

I have spent this week continuing to get my house back in order and trying to get Ainsley into swimming lessons.  As I've written before, the child has no fear and has no understanding of danger.  So, I really want her to have some grasp of water safety and often it's better if the lesson doesn't come from mom.  I know you other mothers can identify with this.  Our town doesn't give lessons to children under four and my attempts to get her in other places were not going well, or we couldn't afford the extraordinary costs.

So, yesterday we tried one last place where the class began the next day (today).  We have been talking to Ainsley a lot about prayer this week.  So, before we walked in, I told her we should pray about getting into the lessons, so we did, right in the parking lot.  We asked that if it was God's Will for Ainsley to have lessons this summer that we would get into this class.  Turns out, there were only three children already signed up for this class, so they were more than happy to sign her up, too.  She was so excited to see an immediate answer to prayer, and I was, too.  It is so wonderful to see God give us the desires of our heart, even the small ones... and to teach our children about how exciting it is to see God work in our lives.

As for the lessons, they went very well today.  The class is for 3,4,5 year olds, but they are all three, and they are all girls, so it's perfect.  She did wonderfully, of course, having no fear or anything.  She gladly jumped right into the water and put her face in.  This child is going to give me a heart attack before I'm 30.

  • I am happy to hear that you had a great time and that your daughter was able to get into the swimming program!  God is awesome!

  • Sounds like you had a great time with your family. I know it can be a lot of work but well worth it! I am so glad God worked out the swimming program situation. It is amazing what happens when we put our trust in God and what an awesome witness to little Ainsley! I hope your week is going well and you are getting your house back in order!

  • LOL, I am soooooooooo glad that you were able to get her in a swimming class!  Olympics, here she comes!  :)

Thanks for praying about my back---it's feeling a little better now--going to the doc's tomorrow.

  • Hi, I did sneak by.  I saw you on purpleamethyst's site and enjoyed your comment. What a sweet family you have. Thanks for the visit. Blessings, M in SC

  • We were wondering if you really met our Ben.  We are still in adjustment mode as well. I have to work at camp tomorrow, but I will try to post some pics at least. We can't wait for your visit here. A will be all ready for Great Grandma Cumbee's pool.

  • I'm glad you're back!  I was worried about you!

Don't you love it when you can show your kiddos God's Grace with those quick answers to prayer?  It only helps to increase their trust and awe of Him!

  • Such awesome pics.  Thanks for sharing.  And I loved your prayer story!  That is exactly how my mom taught me about prayer - just reminding me to take every little thing to him, and then pointing out the answers (just in case I missed them!)  Good "mom" job, Cathi!!!! -Alesha

  • Hi Cathi!  Welcome back!  Thank you for stopping in!  It's been awhile for me, too, in getting around to all my friends here!  We've been pretty busy, but I sure would have loved to have been on a vacation myself!  These pictures are so pretty and colorful!  It looks like you all had so much fun!  And I loved the answer to the prayer that you and Ainsley prayed about the swimming lessons, and the answer coming so quickly to build faith!  I remember when my son went for his lessons...oh my, I almost had a heart attack myself!  These little ones have no fear...hmmm, is there a lesson in there for us!  But a healthy fear is good...and that's what needs to be taught for their protection.  They did a great job of teaching him, too!  I miss teaching my son things like that with those little prayers we used to pray!  He's older now, and we still pray together, but I know I can't control things as before, so I trust that God will watch over him!  I still feel like I'm going to have a heart attack with certain things he does sometimes, like snowboarding, (when he broke his tailbone), and kayaking...(when he almost drowned)...but I just pray protection around him, that God will take care of him!  Being a mom isn't always easy, is it??!!  Sometimes all we can do is just love 'em, and that's a good thing!!  Thank you again, for stopping by, Cathi!  You have a fantastic Friday, and a great weekend enjoying those little ones!

    Blessings,
    ~ Deborah <><
