  • Spring has sprung... and other notes...

My nearly bald baby finally has enough hair...

    to do this...

She looks so grown up in her little pig tails. (Ignore the loads of laundry on my dresser waiting to be put away.)
The forsythia bush is blooming in our backyard.  That means spring is definitely here in New England.  We take a picture next to that bush each year with the girls.  This was this year's attempt...

Oh well... maybe I'll try another day before those flowers fall off and it becomes an ugly bush.

Josh took out the hammock yesterday.  Lorelei is getting her eye teeth and always has her hands in her mouth right now.  And check out Ainsley's outfit... she dressed herself.

It has been a busy week.  I spent all Monday doing the season switch-over of clothes for the girls.  I am very thankful, neither girl needs much of anything.  Ainsley can wear a lot of her clothes from last summer, combined with some hand-me-downs and some things I bought off-season, she is all set.  I love buying off season.  I get things so cheap.  She had several things I got for 98 cents!  And it always feels like Christmas when I pull out the things I saved and go through them.  Lorelei has all of Ainsley's hand-me-downs and some things I bought off season.  She just needs some pajamas and some shoes, and she'll be all set.  It was such a blessing to go through those things know God had provided well for the girls.

Monday night I went to Kohl's by myself because I had a 30% off your entire purchase coupon and some gift cards I have had since my birthday and Christmas.  I found some great deals.  And I knew the girls didn't really need anything, so I could shop for myself... and for the house a little bit.  I found some sweaters really cheap to replace some of mine that have been in my drawer a little too long.  I found a few pairs of pants, some really cute shirts... and TOWELS.  We have been using the same towels we got for our wedding shower.  We've been married for nearly nine years.  I think it's time for new bath towels!

The rest of the week has been filled with meetings, dinners with friends from church, stories for the paper, runs to the grocery store, church, etc.  And tomorrow will be the busiest day of the week, filled with another story for the paper, a birthday party, music class and our first trip to Six Flags of the season.  Maybe the rest of the weekend will be... restful.

  • Don't you just LOVE when little girls dress themselves? I am just about kicking myself that I haven't sent your package yet......I am so sorry! Your baby's hair is TOOOOOOOo cute! I LOVe it! It makes her look so much more grown up! Wow!

  • That baby picture looks like a little doll baby!  So pretty!

That is funny your little girl dressing herself, we ran into a friend yesterday, she had her two and a half year old with her, and she too dresses herself.  ; )

Cute pics all the way around, glad to see you have clean clothes ready to be put up like me.  Yay!  I always reckon to myself...Well at least they're nice and clean! : )

  • Hi Cathi ... I was just on your previous post, had a fairly lengthy comment all typed, and when I hit the submit button, it disappeared! I do NOT like when that happens :o / ... anyway, those purchases were such a blessing to get, and all from one person! It really is true that good things come to those who wait ... patiently! Glad those shots for the girls are over with for now ... they can be more traumatic on the momma ... they were for me when Ian got his! Love those pigtails on Lorelei, and I have laundry on my dresser that needs to be put away too! :o ) As for Ainsley's choice of clothing ... at least both pieces have very pretty stripes!! Lol! They all looked so relaxed in the hammock there. Sounds like you've had a busy week ... and another busy day with some fun things planned for tomorrow! I've never been to Six Flags ... only King's Island, it's much closer. I hope you're able to enjoy a restful weekend after it all! Now I'm going to hope this does not disappear when I click the submit button ... it should come with a warning sign attached!!

    Blessings,
    ~ Deborah <><

  • She looks so cute with those pigtails!  I remember how proud I was when I could finally put G's in them!  Thanks for the smile. . . .

  • Your little one is getting so big!  But it is also a great age...they still will cuddle at that age!  I know my troup has spent the last 3-4 days outside...I haven't stopped to write more about our trip yet..but I promise I will. - Good for you to get out and enjoy yourself!  We need those quiet shopping trips!

  • Oh I love the pigtails!  How cute!  I was hoping for a restful weekend but it turns out there is plenty to do in the times I planned to rest and have some garden therapy.  I hope you have a restful weekend and if not I hope it is joyful all the same!

  • If it makes you feel any better, we are headed towards 9-years of marriage too, I am also using the same towels I got from my weddings showers!!  But alas...when we get our rebate check this summer, we are redoing our leaky bathroom and I think new towels will be order!!  How exciting!

  • I love Lorelei's hair so much...so cute!!  Sounds like you've had a busy week.  I'll see you tomorrow. :)

  • Love the pig tails!  Too cute.

  • It is beautiful here too.  Our lilac bush is starting to green up so soon it will have pretty flowers on it.

Shane has been sick with the stomach flu all week and thankfuly, he is doing better today, and the rest of us seem to have missed it so far.  It is so hard when the kids are sick!

    Have a great weekend!  Julie

  • Awww. . .such sweet pics!  It must be so fun to do little girls' hair.  On the other hand, having a boy saves time in  that department.  :)

I like to buy clothes off-season for LM, too.  You get the best deals and, like you said, it's fun to take them out and rediscover what you bought!

    Have a fun weekend!

    Love,

    Laurie

  • awwwwwwwwww she looks so adorable with pig tails. Yah for switching over the clothes, I need to do that but uuuuggghhhh I dread it with 10 people in the house. Have an awesome weekend.

  • Awww, so cute! We have the same kind of bush at the bottom of our hill, and I keep wanting to snip off some branches and put them in a vase on the table. I love spring! Hope your weekend is going well.

  • Thank you so much, Cathi, for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment.  I DO know that you know!  lol  And yes, it would be so wonderful to be able to visit in person and get our kids together.  That's the one drawback, as far as getting to know people online.  You start wishing you were next-door neighbors!  lol

    Thanks again!

    Love and hugs to you,

    Laurie
